FLORAHOLLAND START UITLEVERING 270.000 GETAGDE STAPELWAGENS
Mieloo & Alexander levert eerste volautomatische codeerstation op in vestiging Naaldwijk
De nieuwe FloraHolland UHF EPC/Gen 2 tags die op alle 270.000 stapelwagens zullen worden aangebracht.
Bloemenveiling FloraHolland stelt per 1 maart 2010 de eerste gemodificeerde stapelwagens (rolcontainers) met nieuwe UHF RFID tag beschikbaar. In totaal worden de komende 2,5 jaar 270.000 stapelwagens voorzien van een UHF RFID tag. Mieloo & Alexander selecteerde en leverde de UHF EPC Gen2 tags, en de geïntegreerde RFID systemen waarmee de tags worden gecodeerd en geverifieerd.
Gedegen aanpak RFID project
Johan Star, adviseur ketenlogistiek en verantwoordelijk voor RFID binnen FloraHolland: "In 2009 heeft FloraHolland een uitgebreid selectietraject uitgevoerd. Hier hebben verschillende leveranciers verschillende tags gepresenteerd. De beste resultaten werden door Mieloo & Alexander geboekt met de MAX ABS tag van Omni ID. Deze tag zit in een goed passende robuuste omhuizing en bleek na uitgebreide testen een uitstekende performance te geven in onze specifieke industriële omgeving en processen. Voor deze tag is een geautomatiseerde codeeroplossing bedacht welke volledig in de modificatie productielijn is geïntegreerd. Onderhand zitten de eerste tags al op onze stapelwagens en maken we goede stappen naar een nog efficiëntere sierteeltlogistiek."
Tag codeer station
Omdat de modificatie van de stapelwagens is uitbesteed aan derden, die grote aantallen stapelwagens per week moeten ombouwen, mag het aanbrengen, coderen en de kwaliteitscontrole van de tags geen operationele verstoringen geven. Daartoe ontwierp Mieloo & Alexander samen met FloraHolland een geavanceerd systeem dat inline tags codeert en controleert. Dit tag codeer en verificatie station is nu operationeel in Naaldwijk, in mei volgt de installatie voor Aalsmeer.

Voordelen van UHF RFID voor de Sierteelt Sector
“UHF RFID tags hebben als grote voordeel dat er over een afstand van ruim 10 meter zeer grote volumes betrouwbaar in korte tijd gelezen kunnen worden. Bovendien kunnen ze als goedkope papieren labels op bijvoorbeeld dozen of pallets worden aangebracht, zowel als in een duurzame behuizing op metaal. Omdat deze tags gebaseerd zijn op internationale standaarden, zijn ze bij uitstek geschikt voor toepassing in de gehele keten. Hierdoor is het op termijn mogelijk om met scanners die ook aan deze standaard voldoen, ook andere logistieke middelen in de sector te scannen, wat een enorm potentieel aan procesverbetering ontsluit. Zowel voor de interne logistiek van de ketenpartners, als voor overdrachtsregistratie van logistieke middelen en goederen tussen de partners”, zegt Sander Merkx, partner van Mieloo & Alexander.
RFID in retail; meer omzet door beter inzicht
in de actuele voorraad
Inzicht in de actuele en werkelijke winkelvoorraad is essentieel voor retailers in de kleding, mode en schoenen branche. Onbetrouwbare voorraadgegevens zorgen er voor dat items die wel als voorraad staan geboekt niet verkocht kunnen worden of juist teveel geleverd worden. Juist in de mode is dat een probleem omdat er door de ‘maten en kleuren’ relatief weinig voorraad in de winkel is.
GS1 Nederland organiseert op 16 Maart het gratis congres “Samen Werkt” in Maarssen. Het accent ligt op praktische oplossingen om daadwerkelijk door samenwerking verbeteringen te realiseren in de sectoren levensmiddelen, doe-het-zelf, tuin en mode.
In de track “Mode” laat David Mackail, Program Manager Supply Chain Innovation van Nike EMEA zien hoe de toepassing van RFID leidt tot een significante stijging van de verkoopcijfers. Nike heeft een aantal winkels uitgerust met de TracEye instore RFID oplossing van Mieloo & Alexander. Aansluitend demonstreert Mieloo & Alexander hoe de TracEye instore RFID oplossing werkt in de praktijk.

FloraHolland invest with RFID in efficiency
FloraHolland, October 19th 2009 (press release) – FloraHolland puts an extra RFID-tag on its 270.000 trolleys (“stapelwagens”). The decision to use an UHF EPC Gen2 RFID tag enables the use by all supply chain partners. This increases the potential to build more efficient logistics processes, and further contributes to the reduction of the supply chain cost of the flower industry.

Trolley identification
FloraHolland uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) in its internal logistics processes since 1999. RFID is an automatic identification technology based on radio waves. Because of the limited read range of the currently used Low Frequency (LF) tags, and the new technical possibilities that the Ultra High Frequency (UHF) tags offer, this type of tag is now also being applied to the trolleys. Depending on the circumstances, UHF tags can be read at more than 10 meters. This makes it possible to automatically identify trolleys at greater distances.
EPC Gen2 standard enables more supply chain applications
Based on years of research and several pilots, FloraHolland decided to invest in the UHF tags based on the international EPC Gen2 standard. This provides FloraHolland and its supply chain partners with the standard for Tracking & Tracing. Potential new applications for the flower industry are for example automated checks of in- and outbound movements of trolleys or inventory counts. Also the trolley supplied by Container Centralen, also used a lot in the flower industry, will be tagged with an UHF EPC Gen2 tag in 2010.
Subproject of the “One Trolley” Project
Following the merger in 2008, FloraHolland modifies its entire pool of 270.000 trolleys into one uniform trolley. This project starts in 2010 and will last until 2012. By introducing the UHF tag as part of this project, an extra improvement can be realised at relatively low cost. When this project is completed all trolleys will have been fitted with new RFID-tag. The numbering and coding of the RFID-tag will be the same as the barcodes and LF-tags currently on the trolley.
Mieloo & Alexander selected as RFID integrator
FloraHolland has assigned Mieloo & Alexander RFID Integrators for the implementation of the UHF-tag. Mieloo & Alexander has supported FloraHolland since 2007 in determining the potential applications of the UHF technology. After a thorough selection process, tags from supplier Omni-Id have been selected.

Demonstratie RFID in de sierteelt
Op vrijdag 23 november vond er een bijzondere presentatie plaats in De Kwakel. Daar
werd door RSLM en Mieloo & Alexander een demonstratie gegeven over het toepassen van RFID in de sierteelttransport. Mieloo & Alexander is een advies bureau gespecialiseerd in supply chain,
